EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: “They Want Leadership at All Costs” — Ogun NCSU State Auditor, Comrade Omoyele Folashade Iyabo JP. Defends State Chairman
The storm of allegations trailing the Ogun State Chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Comrade Ismail Oladipupo Sanyaolu, has continued to generate mixed reactions. While some detractors insist on linking him to embezzlement and financial misconduct, others within the union are describing the allegations as baseless and politically motivated. In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Comrade Omoyele Folashade Iyabo JP., the NCSU State Auditor who doubled as NLC Women Committee Chairperson and current NCSU Acting State Chairman, came strongly to the defense of Comrade Sanyaolu, calling the petitions “a desperate struggle for power at all costs.”
On the Allegations Against the Chairman
According to Comrade Folashade, the accusations of embezzlement, unauthorized loans, and diversion of workers’ funds are nothing more than a smear campaign designed to tarnish the good image of the State Chairman.
> “These stories are fabricated lies. The Retirement Savings Scheme remains intact and untouched under Comrade Sanyaolu’s leadership. No unauthorized loan was ever taken, and no contributors’ funds have been diverted. This is all propaganda, carefully staged by individuals who have long nurtured ambitions to force themselves into leadership positions,” Folashade stated.
*On the Chairman’s Leave Abroad*
Responding to reports that Comrade Sanyaolu “absconded abroad” amidst the controversy, Folashade dismissed the claim as both false and mischievous.
> “Comrade Sanyaolu is not hiding; he is on his duly approved annual leave, which is a legitimate right of every civil servant. Before traveling, he officially appointed me to oversee affairs in his absence. That is not the behavior of someone running away — it is the mark of a responsible leader who values continuity,” she explained.
Folashade further emphasized that no vacuum exists in the union’s leadership structure, as all statutory meetings and official engagements continue to be attended by myself as the acting State Chairman during his vacation.
*On the Timing of the Allegations*
When asked why such serious allegations were being pushed at this particular time, Comrade Folashade was direct in his response.
> “The timing is not accidental. It is because elections are drawing closer. Some people want to destabilize the union so they can install themselves into leadership at all costs. Rather than waiting for due process, they are dragging the name of the Chairman in the mud. This is not about the welfare of workers; it is a naked struggle for power and personal gain,” she said.
She described the actions of the suspended Vice Chairman, Comrade Oluwaseun Adedeji Oke, and the suspended Women Committee Chairperson, Comrade Olaiya Omolara, as “reckless and self-serving,” accusing them of attempting to use media propaganda to create panic among contributors.
*Message to Workers and the Public*
The acting State Chairman, Comrade Omoyele Folashade Iyabo called on all Ogun State Civil Servants and the general public to remain calm and not be misled by half-truths and propaganda.
> “Comrade Sanyaolu has a track record of accountability and service. The Retirement Savings Scheme has remained secure, and workers’ interests are fully protected. No amount of blackmail or character assassination will change that. I appeal to our members to stay united and focused, because history has always shown that lies fade away while the truth endures,” he stressed.
Acting State Chairman concluded the interview by warning detractors against further attempts to destabilize the union, insisting that Ogun State workers are intelligent enough to see through the “political game” being played by a few desperate individuals.
*Conclusion*
Despite the sponsored falsehoods and politically motivated attacks, the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) remains united, strong, and focused under the leadership of Comrade Ismail Oladipupo Sanyaolu. The overwhelming support from committed members, including State Auditor, Comrade Omoyele Folashade Iyabo JP., clearly shows that the allegations are mere distractions that will not derail the union’s progress.
Ogun civil servants continue to place their confidence in a leadership that has consistently prioritized welfare, accountability, and transparency. As the dust settles, once truth shines forth, the Ogun NCSU will not be shaken by propaganda, but will remain solidly committed to protecting workers’ interests under Comrade Sanyaolu’s stewardship.
