2027 House Of Reps Hopeful, Omolewu, Advocates APC Unity Ahead Of August 16 Bye Election in Oyo State

House of Representatives hopeful for 2027 Ibarapa North and Central Federal Constituency poll, Hon. Tunji Francis Omolewu, popularly known as Konko-Jabele, has advocated for unity among the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the bye-election in Oyo State.

This is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed August 16, 2025 for the conduct of polls into the vacant seats in the National Assembly.

The affected constituency which is Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State, became vacant following the death of a member of the House of Representatives who won the 2023 general poll.

Omolewu, who made the call while addressing newsmen in Ibadan, the state capital, pleaded with the aggrieved aspirants to display the spirit of sportsmanship by supporting the party’s candidate for the poll, Hon. Adewale Olatunji (Murphy).

The APC Chieftain explained that the forthcoming bye-election remained a litmus test for the party in its bid to reclaim the seat of power in the pacesetter state during the 2027 governorship poll in the state.

The former Ibarapa North Council Chairman added reclaiming the mandate is the best remembrance any party man or woman can give to the late Hon. Olayide Akinremi who occupied the seat before the unfortunate incident.

According to him, all the stakeholders in the party must work hard towards ensuring that the party emerge victorious during the poll, in order to send a strong warning to the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general polls in the state.

“The election into the vacant seat of Ibadan North won by the candidate of our party during the 2023 polls is around the corner, I wants to specially appeal to our members in the Ibadan North Federal Constitutency to immortalize the late occupier of the seat, Hon. Olayide Akinremi, who unfortunately, could not complete his term despite his outstanding performance before the death struck.

“As a party in Oyo state, we must present good replacements who would continue the good work from where they stopped and as well sent strong signal ahead of the 2027 general poll where our party will be returned to the seat of power at Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.

“It is imperative for us to put aside any differences which might have occurred during election of the party’s flagbearer for the poll and allow the party supremacy to prevail while we give our best to ensure APC emerge victorious during the poll”, He concluded.

Omolewu, however, assured that APC will reclaim the seat of power in the state during the 2027 governorship poll.
