TRAGIC: Three Teenagers Drown In Bauchi River
No fewer than three teenage boys have drowned in a river
while swimming in Bauchi State.
The tragedy incident which occoured when the deceased boys were
enjoying a swim after they allegedly engaged in mining activities located near Jinkiri
Village in Tirwun area of the State.
Spokesman of the state police command, Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, named
the victims to include a 16 years old Habibu Mohammed, 16 years old Abubakar
Mohammed and 14 years old Zailani Sule.
Wakil explained that despite the efforts to rescue the
victims and obtain medical assistance were unsuccessful as the teenagers were
pronounced dead before reaching the hospital.
He added that the preliminary investigation showed that the
teenagers had been engaged in mining activities before deciding to swim in the
river.
According to him, an investigation had been launched into
the circumstances surrounding the deaths, and the bodies of the victims had
been released to the families for burial after medical examination at the
Specialist Hospital in Bauchi.
