One Year of Impactful Administration in Afijio LG

 

The Executive Chairman Afijio Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Olufemi Aikomo marked one year of Impactful Administration In grand style.

The event witnessed commissioning of two box culvert Bridges at Salawu Ajamun Olorin,Iware and Iware Market respectfully. Other activities include; flag off of Afijio Local Government Farmers School, 

Award of full scholarship to Miss Adesola Christiana to study Accounting at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. Miss Christiana Adesola is an exceptional student who excelled remarkably among the indigent students whose WAEC and JAMB fees were sponsored by the Executive Chairman.

Hon. Olufemi Aikomo one year of Impactful Administration also witnessed inter secondary school quiz competition among public secondary schools in Afijio Local Government. Where Miss Adewuyi Dorcas of Akinmorin Grammer School took first position while Master Olaniyi Moses of Baptist Secondary School,Oke Isanmi, Ilora and Miss Adeyemi Gloria of Akinmorin Grammer School took second position and third position respectfully. However, huge amount of money was won by the winners while other participants received learning tools/materials and cash gift as well.

In Executive Chairman's address; Hon. Olufemi Aikomo expressed gratitude to Almighty God for making the event a reality and he further extended his profound gratitude to the Engineer of Modern Oyo State,His Excellency Engr 'Seyi Makinde FNSE,D.Sc,GSSRS, Pa Sunday Ogunlade, Royal Fathers and the entire populace of Afijio Local Government for their support and cooperation so far. "Without you, today's event and all other developmental projects recorded would have not have been made possible" the chairman stated

Hon. Olufemi Aikomo said " I am proud of His Excellency's transformational agenda in the state and to God be the glory I am complimenting the efforts of our amiable Governor in making life more bearable and comfortable for the citizenry at the grassroot" 

The chairman highlighted his activities/projects so far as follows:

PUBLIC WORKS 

Mass grading and rehabilitation of roads across all wards within the local government area to ease transportation of farm products from the hinterlands to the town.

Repair of earth moving equipment such as low bed, excavator and the likes

Refurbishing of MF tractor for hiring at subsidized rate to farmers across the local government areas.

Partnership with the state government in remodeling and show casing of Sogidi Lake at Awe as tourism centre

Ongoing renovation of local government Hostel

Large scale cultivation of maize seeds and cassava cuttings.

        SECURITY

Holding of periodic security meeting with conventional and non-conventional security agencies, such as; monthly peace and security meeting, farmers and helders security meeting and so on.

Equipping and Provision of logistics to non-conventional security personnel like vigilante , local hunters in securing the lives and properties of the residents of the local government.

Construction of vigilante post at Elekaara Market.

Provision of Solar Street Lights to Jobele, Fiditi, Ilora and Awe Land.

          HEALTH

Chlorination of wells at Fiditi during cholera outbreak.

Supporting the state government on the provision of Free health care to the residents of the council.

Payment of hospital bills to less privilege citizens.

           EDUCATION

Sponsorship of five(5) indigent students of the local government for the degree programme at Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan.

Sponsorship of four(4) indigent students of the local government for Community Nursing and Midwifery at School of Nursing Eleyele, Ibadan.

Payment of Jamb/WAEC Fee for some indigent students (2024/2025) academic session.

Sponsorship of inter secondary school quiz competition among public secondary schools in the local government.

Hon. Aikomo further seek for continuous support and cooperation of the entire populace of the council so that everyone will enjoy dividends of democracy from his administration.

"We cannot do everything at the same time but with your cooperation all areas will be positively touched" chairman promised 

Reacting to the Chairman's good deed; Iware community leaders, farmers, Miss Adesola Christiana on behalf of other students, expressed their sincere appreciation to the Executive Chairman Afijio Local Government for his timely support and kind gesture. They all wish him continuous success in all his endeavors.

The event is witnessed by the Wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs Kehinde Aikomo, the Vice Chairman/Political Head Afijio West LCDA - Hon. Tajudeen Aderemi Adegoke, the Leader of the Legislative Chamber- Hon. David Akinade Adeyemo, the PDP local government party chairman - Hon.Adedeji Sola Aderinola , other local government Legislative members, all Political Functionaries, the Head of Local Government Administration - Alhaji Sulaiman Kayode Olayiwola, the directors and key officers, community leaders, political leaders, some teachers/ students from public secondary schools in Afijio local government among others.
