Ogun Police Directs Telecommunication Companies to Conduct Integrity Test on Their Masts Over Collapse in Akute Axis
The Ogun State Police Command has directed the Telecommunication Companies operating in the state to carry out integrity test on their facilities, especially Masts.
The directive followed the collapse of a communication mast belonging to IHS Company, located at Ajuwon in Akute area of the State due to the severe weather conditions.
The mast fell on a residential building of Mr Moses Olalere in Unity Estate, Alagbole axis during which he survived with minor bruises and he was promptly attended to by medical personnel and he is now in stable condition.
However, no casualty recorded during the incident.
State's Police Commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo, who issued directive in a statement by the Command's Spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said there is need for heightened awareness and public sensitization across the state.
Odutola explained that Ogunlowo has directed the Area Commanders to urgently engage with companies that own masts situated near residential areas to assess their structural integrity and ensure safety of lives and property.
She added that the preliminary investigation has commenced and members of the public will be notified of further development.
