2027: I will lead Tinubu’s campaign – Wike taunts PDP

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced his readiness to lead President Bola Tinubu’s campaign in 2027.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain who is currently serving in Tinubu's administration had been at loggerhead with some party stalwarts shortly after the Presidential Primary in 2022.

The former Rivers State Governor led a group of five PDP Governors to work against the party during the 2023 presidential poll over the zoning of party's presidential ticket to north after eight years of Former president Muhammmadu Buhari.

Wike while addressing newsmen in Abuja, said he will lead the campaign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign for the next election despite being a member of PDP.

“I have told you this before, is it because I am in Asiwaju’s presidency?

“Are you not aware I will lead his campaign in Rivers State? You want me to say no?

“Are you not aware that he didn’t get up to 10 per cent here, FCT? But he will win here. Are you not aware?

“Stop asking me questions you know.

“Of course, you know. Is that hidden.

“Because I have said the South must produce the president.”

Recall Wike had recently pulled out of fresh reconciliation agreements reached in PDP where he accused Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Enugu Counterpart, Peter Mbah of orchestrating the fresh crisis in the party.
