Reps approves Tinubu's tax reform bills

 

The House of Representatives has finally passed the controversial tax reform bills into law.

The development is expected to put an end to several months of controversy trailing the bill sent to the national assembly for consideration and approval by President Bola Tinubu.

Initially, the bills had faced stiff opposition from several key stakeholders including the Northern Governors’ Forum and the National Economic Council.

Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, who disclosed this in a statement on his verified X handle, said the green chamber approved the billa during the Thursday plenary.

Dare, explained that the bills were approved after several months of debate.

He, however, was silence on the details of the tax reform bills as approved by the Green Chamber.

“Tax reform bills have been approved by Nigeria’s House of Representatives today in Abuja. Today, March 13, 2025,”Presidential spokesperson said 

Recall that on October 3, 2024, Tinubu sent four tax reform bills—including the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, the Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill—to the National Assembly.
