Husband allegedly stabs wife to death in Ogun

 


A man simply identified as Oju has allegedly stabbed his 36-year-old housewife to death in Ogun State.

The victim, identified as Josephine Isaac, was stabbed in the neck and chest by her husband during an argument in their apartment located at Agbure community in Waterside axis of the State.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, the State Capital, said the matter was reported to the Abigi Divisional Command by the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.

Odutola explained that the suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times with a knife when the argument escalated into physical violence.

She added that Oju upon realizing the severity of her injuries, fled the scene, abandoning his wife in a pool of blood.

According to her, the victim was immediately rushed to Ibiade General Hospital by concerned individuals, where she was pronounced dead by the medical doctor on duty due to her injuries.

"On March 6, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report from the victim’s younger sister, Isaac Blessing.

“She narrated that at about 1 a.m., Josephine had a misunderstanding with her husband, identified as Oju (full name yet to be confirmed), who is of Calabar origin.

“The altercation escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.”

According to Odutola, upon receiving the report, detectives of the command swiftly visited the scene of the crime to gather evidence and have launched a manhunt for the fleeing husband.

She said the body of the victim has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy while the preliminary investigations are ongoing.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Odutola said the Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect and assures the public that no effort will be spared in bringing him to justice.

“We appeal to anyone with useful information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the command’s emergency lines,” She added.
