Akpabio: Police disperse pro-Natasha protesters with tear gas

 

Security operatives have dispersed supporters of the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, from accessing the National Assembly Complex.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had accused the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio of sexually harassing her, the advances she allegedly had turned down.

The light skinned lawmaker added that the rejection is responsible for the maltreatment melted out to her in the Senate by Akpabio including changing of her seat.

The protesters had converged at the Assembly gate as early as 8am on Wednesday morning.

The protest came ahead of the resumption of plenary and hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition.

The protesters demanded the immediate resignation of the Senate President over the alleged sexual harassment levelled against him by Natasha.

However, the protesters were dispersed by police officers with tear gas to prevent breakdown of law and order.
